WHO WE ARE

OUR HISTORY

Mrs. Lola Moore, is the Founder of the Golden Links. Lola founded the group in 2000 after she and her husband Al moved to Naples, Florida in 1999 from northern Virginia. At that time, Lola and her husband were unable to find an established organization in Naples that focused on providing networking opportunities and fostering relationships among African American professionals. So Lola and about 15 other African American women decided that something needed to be done. They met for an inaugural lunch in October 2000 and out of that meeting officially launched the Golden Links.

WHO WE ARE TODAY

The Golden Links is a social organization established to foster positive connections, camaraderie, and support among African American women in Southwest Florida. We particularly welcome those who may be new to the area and perhaps need a way to connect. We host a monthly dining event, usually a week-end lunch or dinner, at various restaurants in the area. We also occasionally sponsor other social opportunities including wine tastings, book signings and special appearances (where you can have the opportunity to meet local authors, artists, and entrepreneurs), movie screenings, and the occasional shopping or travel excursion. In addition, we also seek to involve our members in various philanthropic opportunities that benefit the local community. Our most recent endeavor was a holiday fundraiser to benefit the Boys and Girls Club of Collier County. We occasionally co-sponsor events with “Black Retired Old Men Eating Out (a.k.a. B.R.O.M.E.O.)", a local Southwest Florida organization providing African American men with opportunities to connect, similar to those provided by the Golden Links. Our current membership includes over 100 women throughout South West Florida. If you would like to be considered for membership, please click on the “Contact Us” tab at the top of the page and download our membership application.
